The meeting was held to review the Amendment bill to the Tourism Act (Act no. 2/99). In this regard, the Amendment proposed to Article 1(a) of the Act was parked for later deliberations to inquire about the definition of tourist resorts, resort hotels, hotels and guesthouses, the reasons not interpreted in the Bill, and whether article 53 (b) of the Act must be amended accordingly from Ministry of Tourism. Discussions were continued regarding the comments sent by the Local Government Authority on Article 2 of the Bill. Expressing concern over changes to land rents for islands and uninhabited islands leased for the development of tourist resorts, tourist hotels, yacht marinas and integrated tourism projects on the Bill, Honorable Member of Naifaru constituency Ahmed Shiyam proposed and supported by Honorable Member of Maavashu constituency Mohamed Saeed to pause and hold the works of the bill at the moment and not to continue before meeting with the Ministry of Finance or gathering relevant information. Members voted against this proposal and was decided to continue committee works of the bill
