Honorable Gasim Ibrahim was born in August 30, 1951 to A.Dh. Maamigilli. He has an Honorary Degree in Doctor of Entrepreneurship. Gasim Ibrahim is the the founder of Villa Shipping and Trading Company Pvt. Ltd. He is also the Chairman and the largest shareholder of Villa Group.

Honorable Gasim Ibrahim was elected to the Parliament for the first time on 24 February 1990. And he served as Alif Atoll member till 3 October 1990. He was elected as the A.Dh. Atoll member for the People's Special Majlis on 15 June 2004. Honorable Gasim Ibrahim had a prominent role in the formation of the Constitution of Maldives which was ratified on 2008. He was elected as the Speaker of the People's Special Majlis on 6 May 2007.
