Summary

In today's meeting, the committee discussed regarding the issue of suggesting the President to dismiss the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority, Mr. Ali Hashim. Since, the Governor was unable to attend today's meeting as per the request of the committee, Governor has informed the committee that any requested information will provided in written form. The Chair proposed to vote the members who are against giving any further opportunity to the Governor to provide his stance against the dismissal in written.

 Hence, the committee decided not to give any further opportunity to the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority to give his stance regarding the proposal to dismiss him from the post in written and to continue the discussion of the issue in his absence.


During the discussions, Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim proposed that the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority does not have the to perform objectives and tasks assigned to the Authority under the Article 4 of Maldives Monetary Authority Act 1981, hence to suggest the President to dismiss the Governor from his post. Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef seconded this proposal.
