6th meeting of General Purpose Committee for the year 2024

Summary

In today’s meeting, the members of the committee first discussed how to proceed with the drafting of the Standing Order of 20th Majlis. After a debate, members concluded first to review the amendments proposed by the People’s Majlis Secretariat.


Following are the changes committee brought to the Standing Order.

  • Amended clause no 15 unanimously.
  • Deleted clause no 22 (a), (2) unanimously. 
  • Amended clause no 33.
  • Deleted section 34 as it contradicts Act no 5/2024 (Anti-Defection Act)


Lastly, committee members debated on to extend the duration of the meeting, and decided not to extend the meeting time, rather have another meeting tomorrow.
