General Purpose Committee 7th meeting of the year 2024.

Summary

In today’s meeting, the members of the committee first discussed how to proceed with the drafting of the Standing Order of 20th Majlis. After a debate, members decided to continue the amending process as recommended by the secretariat of the committee.


Then, the committee started to review the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis and brought some changes. Following are the changes the committee brought and their respective votes.

  •  Amended clause no 44 (e).
  • Amended clause no 48 (a) as per proposed by the MP for North Galolhu constituency, Mohamed Ibrahim
  • Reviewed chapter 18 of the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis. The committee had a debate on the amendments proposed by the Secretariat and finalized to send the proposed draft brought to the chapter to the Speaker of the Majlis, the Majority Parliamentary Group Leader and the Minority Parliamentary Group Leader for their opinion.


Lastly, the committee reviewed the issue proposed regarding the service provided to the Parliament Members from V.I.P Lounge of the Velana International Airport. After a debate, the committee finalized to implement the decision made by the 16th meeting of this committee in the year 2023 regarding the issue.
