General Purpose Committee 13th meeting of the year 2024.

Summary

In today’s meeting, the committee continued the amendment work of the Standing Order of People’s Majlis and started reviewing from clause no 179 till the end.

MP Ismail Shafeeu of Isdhoo constituency proposed to pass the changes brought by the committee. This was seconded by MP Abdul Latheef Abdul Rahmaan of Alifushi constituency and was passed unanimously.


Next, the committee reviewed proposed amendments sent by People’s National Congress party (PNC), and MP Ismail Shafeeu of Isdhoo constituency proposed to pass these amendments with the changes of the committee. This proposition was seconded by MP Hussain Imran Latheef of South Henveyru constituency.


Lastly, the committee reviewed the amendment proposed by MP Mohamed Ibrahim of North Galolhu constituency. The MP proposed amendments to clause no 189 of the Standing Order and proposed changes to the dress code used in official ceremonies and meetings. However, after reviewing the said amendments, MP Ismail Shafeeu of Isdhoo constitution proposed to reject the amendments. This proposition was seconded by MP Ahmed Riyaz of Thimarafushi constituency.
