Summary
The first item on today’s agenda was to discuss the issue of individuals and companies not paying fines for damaging the environment. In this meeting, committee members reviewed the information received from the attorney general’s office and Environmental protection agency (EPA).
Once the chairman opened the floor, Gemanafushi constituency member Asadhulla Shihab noted that the committee to summon EPA to clarify information on the matter. It was seconded by Mathiveri constituency member Hassan Zareer.
And Gemanafushi constituency member Asadhullah Shihab also asked the committee chair to request from committee secretariat to bring relevant laws and regulations related to the matter and share with the committee members before meeting with the EPA.
The second item on the agenda was to continue the discussion of the waste management issue in the Maldives. once the chairman opened the floor, Vilufushi constituency member Hassan Waheed stated that there is nothing further in that matter, as members were able to clarify all the necessary information during the meeting with the Ministry of climate change, environment and energy and Waste management corporation. Since no other suggestion was made, the chairman closed that matter and ended today’s meeting.
