Decentralization Committee 8th meeting of the year 2024.

Summary

In today's meeting, the Committee reviewed the two bills submitted to the Committee:

 

1.     Amendment Bill to Law No. 7/2010 (Decentralization Act)

2.     Amendment Bill to Law No. 10/2010 (Local Council Election Act)

 

First, the Committee decided how to proceed with the bill reviews. Bilehdhoo Constituency Member Ahmed Aslam proposed that the two bills be opened for public comment and to request the relevant authorities, Election Commission, Local Government Authority and the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works to submit their comments for the bills. The Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz seconded this. The Committee unanimously passed the motion.


Next, the Committee proceeded to set the deadline for two bills. Kolamaafushi Constituency Member proposed to set the deadline for 04th August 2024 and North Henveyru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan seconded this. The Committee unanimously passed the motion.
