Summary

The agenda for today’s meeting was to evaluate the Urban Development Bill.

When the floor was opened for members after the discussions, Keyodhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Niushad proposed to open the bill for public comment for 3 days and to summon technical staff from Ministry of Housing, Land & Urban Development and Ministry of Cities Local Government & Public Works to clarify some of the provisions in the bill. This proposal was seconded by Thoddoo Constituency Member Hussain Sameer. Below are the voting details for this proposal. The proposal to open the bill to public comments and to summon the technical staff from the Ministry of Housing, Land & Urban Development and Ministry of Cities Local Government & Public Works was passed unanimously.

 

After that, the committee proceeded to set a deadline for the bill. North Henveyru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed, and Kolamaafushi Constituency Member Ibrahim Didi seconded to set 10th of October 2024 as the deadline for the bill.
