Committee Meeting - People's Majlis of Maldives

Summary

The committee met with a team from the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development and Maldives Qualification Authority to discuss the issues identified in the regulations formed under Higher Education and Training Act 7/2021.

In this meeting the minister of state Mr. Ahmed Shafeeu shared information on the highlighted contradictions (shared by the committee prior to the meeting), review process and their attempts to update these regulations.

The team from the ministry and MQA answered members’ questions on increasing educational opportunities through these regulations, maintaining the quality of education in e-learning programs and how to avoid unfortunate incidents by ensuring that the enrolled universities are approved by MQA before students start studying.

After that, the chairman concluded today’s meeting.
