In this meeting, the committee reviewed Auditor General’s Office estimated budget for the year 2025.
Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau proposed to pass the capital and recurrent expenditure of MVR 80,497,312 (Eighty Million Four Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand Three Hundred and Twelve) as proposed by the Office, and PSIP amount as MVR 34,000,000 (Thirty-Four Million) as amendment suggested by Ministry of Finance, making the total of MVR114,497,312 (One Hundred and Fourteen Million Four Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand Three Hundred and Twelve). This proposal was seconded by Central Hithadhoo Constituency Ahmed Azaan Marzooq and passed unanimously.
A letter from the Judicial Service Commission requesting a meeting with the committee along with Judiciary Committee to discuss regarding the temporary office for the Criminal Court was discussed and decided to arrange the meeting as a Joint Committee with the Judiciary Committee.
In addition, the Committee discussed a letter received from Auditor General’s Office asking to notify them if the committee has any Special Audit to include in the office’s annual work plan for the year 2025. The committee decided to request them to keep a 4 slots dedicated for any special audit the committee might ask them in the future.
The paperwork of the Loan of 15 million USD to co-finance for Strengthening Fiscal Sustainability and Management Program and the paperwork of the guarantee of 200 million MVR from Habib Bank Limited for accommodating working capital required for Housing Development Corporation and advance payment of Shore protection of Thilafushi was shared with the members.
Asset Declaration details of Auditor General and his family were also shared with the members.
Furthermore, the committee discussed the request from KPMG to extend the deadline to submit the Audit Report of Auditor General’s Office for the year 2023 and decided to extend the deadline till 22nd October 2024.
