Summary

During today's meeting, the first issue discussed was the issue sent by North Galolhu Constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim regarding the regulations to be made to ensure the safety and security of tourists. In this regard Manadhoo constituency member Husnee Mubaarik proposed to meet the officials of Ministry of Tourism to clarify about the regulations. This proposal was seconded by North Galolhu Constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim and was passed unanimously.

Secondly, members discussed the issue sent by Maldives Financial Service Association expressing their concern regarding the second amendment brought to the Corporate Governance regulation of Insurance companies and Financial Institutions. Manadhoo constituency member Husnee Mubaarik proposed to wind up the issue after checking whether the said amendment contradicts with the relevant acts. It was seconded by Velidhoo Constituency member Mohamed Abbaas and was passed unanimously.

Next, committee members discussed the issue sent to the whistleblower committee of People’s Majlis stating that Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has been publishing tax regulations beyond the authority given to them and to give the authority to publish tax regulations to Ministry of Finance. As the details were not mentioned in the letter, Manadhoo constituency member Husnee Mubaarik proposed to wind up the issue after checking whether the regulations published by MIRA are made according to the relevant tax acts. It was seconded by Velidhoo Constituency member Mohamed Abbaas and was passed unanimously.
