Summary
In today's meeting, the members discussed the following two issues.
1. Issue proposed by Huraa Constituency member Dr. Anara Naeem to summon the relevant authorities regarding the 'Workplace Safety Regulation' gazetted by the Labor Relations Authority on October 14, 2024 as large number of complaints are received regarding the said regulation.
2. Letter sent by Maldives National Association of Construction Industry requesting to consult the related industries and review the regulations framed under the Act no 1/2024 (Industrial Relations Act) as companies in the construction industry have expressed concerns regarding the said regulations.
In this regard Manadhoo Constituency member Husnee Mubarik proposed to summon the officials of Labour Relations Authority, Maldives National Association of Construction Industry and the Director General of Industrial Relations to clarify the above two issues. It was seconded by North Galolhu Constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim and was passed unanimously.
