Summary

 

In today’s meeting, Committee set the deadline of the Bill on Amendment to the Penal Code (Act No.9/2014) (Bill no. 33) as 20th March 2025.

This was proposed by Huraa Constituency Member Anara Naeem and seconded by South Hithadhoo Member Ibrahim Naazil. This proposal was passed unanimously.

Then committee decided to give 5 days for public comments. And to send for comments to the relevant institutions. The relevant authorities are as below;

 

1.  Prosecutor General's Office

2.  Maldives Police Service

3.  Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology

4.  Maldives Bar Council

5.  Fandiyaarunge Jamiyya

6.  Department of Judicial Administration

 

This was proposed by Central Fuvahmulah Constituency Member Ali Fazad and seconded by Thimarafushi Constituency Member Ahmed Riyaz. This proposal was passed unanimously.

Then, the committee reviewed the Bill on Penal Code Act (no. 9/2014) (Maafushi Constituency Member Hussain Riza Adam). (Bill No.8) with the comments sent from the Attorney General’s Office and committee decided to invite Attorney General’s Office for clarification on some articles of the bill.
