Budget Committee's 6th meeting for the year 2024

Summary

In today’s meeting discussions were carried out regarding 2025 budget proposed by the Ministry of Finance.

 

1.  Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed and Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau seconded to pass total revenue and grants of MVR 39,789,965,227/- (Thirty-nine billion seven hundred and eighty-nine million nine hundred and sixty five thousand two hundred and twenty-seven) as proposed by the Ministry of Finance. This proposal was passed by the majority of members vote.

2.  Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed and Kela Constituency member Abdulla Shareef seconded to pass the 2025 budget for government offices and independent institutions as proposed by the Ministry of Finance. This proposal was passed by the majority of members vote.

3.  Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed and Kela Constituency member Abdulla Shareef seconded to pass the "Recurrent Expenditure and Capital Expenditure of Offices 2025" report and the "Program Budget of Offices" as proposed by the Ministry of Finance. This proposal was passed by the majority of members vote.

4.  Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed and Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau seconded to pass the PSIP budget of MVR 12,378,659,021/- (Twelve billion three hundred seventy eight million six hundred fifty nine thousand twenty one) proposed by the Ministry of Finance. This proposal was passed by the majority of members vote.

 

Next, general recommendations for the 2025 budget was proposed. Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim proposed and North Feydhoo Constituency member Ismail Nizar seconded to include 8 general recommendations. This proposal was passed unanimously.

 

In addition, even though Ministry of Finance initially proposed the total amount of block grant to be issued to the councils as MVR 1,447,316,071/- (One billion four hundred forty seven million three hundred and sixteen thousand and seventy one), it was decided that an additional amount of MVR 699,531,414/- (Six million Ninety Nine Thousand Five Hundred Thirty One Thousand Four Hundred Fourteen) to be provided from the contingency budget as proposed by Ministry of Finance. Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim proposed and Kela Constituency member Abdulla Shareef seconded this proposal and was passed unanimously.

 

Furthermore, Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim proposed to pass the 2025 Budget as proposed by Ministry of Finance along with the changes passed. Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau seconded this proposal and was passed by the majority of members vote.
