Summary
During today's meeting, the committee discussed the process for proceeding with the bill on amendment to the Immigration Act (Act No. 1/2007). When the floor was opened to members, Dhiggaru Constituency Member Ahmed Nazim proposed and and Kelaa Constituency Member Abdulla Shareef seconded to collect the statistics relating to the Israeli foreigners visiting Maldives along with their visa types. In this proposal it was also included to get comments and meet with the stakeholders of the bill which includes all the political parties in Maldives, Maldives Immigration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Tourism, Attorney General’s Office and associations related to Maldivian tourism industry.
