Summary
In today’s meeting the first thing on the agenda was to finalize the committee’s quorum. Hence, Gadhdhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Ali proposed the committee quorum as 3 members, which was seconded by Kinbidhoo Constituency Member Ali Ashrag.This proposal was passed as none of the members present at the meeting objected to the motion.
Next, the committee analyzed the information received by the State Electric Company Limited in the case of the issue to investigate the corrupt practices committed by the previous managements of state-owned Enterprises and measures taken to prevent recurrence of such practices. Accordingly, the former management of The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) agreed to pay $7,888,165.97 as compensation to Dongfang Electric International Corporation (DEC) of China on September 14, 2023. Maavashu Constituency Member Ahmed Shakir supported Gadhdhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Ali's proposal to give future recommendations to the Anti-Corruption Commission and State Electric Company Limited on this matter.
