In this meeting, the committee discussed the Special Audit Report on Fuel Purchase for the operations of Maldives Ports Limited 2018-2020.
During the discussions, Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim highlighted a case of oil theft and money laundering by Fuel Supply Maldives employees recently, which is being investigated by Maldives Police Service. He proposed conducting a meeting with the Board members of State Trading Organization Plc who looked into the matter and the members of the Audit Committee who investigated the matter on behalf of the company's board. This proposal was seconded by Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau and passed unanimously.
Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa proposed to sit with the officials from Maldives Ports Limited to discuss the measures taken by the management to minimize such issues. This proposal was seconded by Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh and passed unanimously.
Furthermore, the Special Audit Report on Maldives Ports Limited Hiya Project was discussed. Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa proposed to sit with the former CEO, Board Members and the Financial Controller of Maldives Ports Limited to discuss the audit report. It was seconded by North Fuvahmulah Constituency member Hamad Abdulla and passed unanimously.
