In today’s meeting, Committee decided the following regarding the bill on the amendment to the Drugs Act (Act No.: 17/2011);
1. Committee set the deadline of the Bill on the amendment to the Drugs Act (No. 17/2011) as 28 February 2025
2. Committee decided to give 5 days for public comments on the Bill
3. To send for comments to the relevant institutions. The relevant authorities are as below;
1. Prosecutor General's Office
2. Maldives Police Service
3. Anti Corruption Commision
4. Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology
5. Human Rights Commision of the Maldives
6. National Drug Agency
7. Maldives Custom Service
8. Maldives Bar Council
9. Fandiyaarunge Jamiyya
10. Department of Judicial Administration
This was proposed by Milandhoo Constituency Member Hassan Mufeed Abdul Gadir and seconded by Kurendhoo Constituency Member Shamin Habeeb. This proposal was passed unanimously.
