Summary
In this meeting, the committee sat with the Board members of State Trading Organization (STO) to gather information regarding the recent case of oil theft and money laundering by Fuel Supply Maldives employees which is currently investigated by Maldives Police Service. The committee unanimously decided to keep the committee meeting confidential, as proposed by Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau and seconded by Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa.
The committee then discussed regarding the appointment of a firm to perform the Audit of Auditor General’s Office for the year 2024 and decided to assign the secretariat of the committee to the process of announcement and collection of the bids.
Furthermore, the paperwork related to the guarantee given by the government to the loan agreement USD 50,000,000 (fifty million) between CFSIT Inc. and STO to raise funds for the import of medicines, food grains and other essential commodities imported by STO and the copy of a letter from HDh. Atoll Council to the Auditor General’s Office regarding the audit report of the council for the year 2023 was shared with the members.
