Summary

In this meeting, the committee discussed about the issue submitted to the committee regarding the Kaadedhoo Airport. In this regard two proposals were proposed; firstly Velidhoo constituency member Mohamed Abbas proposed to meet with the Villa Air Pvt Ltd and Maldives Civil Aviation Authority: it was seconded by the North Thinadhoo constituency member Saudhulla Hilmy. Secondly, Kendhoo constituency member Mauroof Zakir proposed to gather information in writing regarding the agreement between Villa Air Pvt Ltd and the Government of Maldives regarding the development and operation of Kaadedhoo Airport and the plans made for the development and operation of the airport and it was seconded by the North Thinadhoo constituency member Saudhulla Hilmy. Both the proposal were passed unanimously.

Furthermore, in this meeting committee discussed about deadline for completion of the review of resolution proposed by Kendhoo constituency member Mauroof Zakir calling for the development of a common standard or code of grooming and dress for employees in the Tourism industry, removing barriers to wearing headscarves and decent beards, due to the existing grooming and dress codes for employees working in tourist resorts and hotels and how to proceed with the resolution. In this regard, Hoarafushi constituency member Ali Moosa proposed to set 25th March 2025 as a deadline to complete committee works of the resolution, to seek public comments for the resolution and to open for public comments for a period of seven days from today; and it was seconded by Kendhoo constituency member Mauroof Zakir. The voting details are as follows. In addition regarding this issue, Kendhoo constituency member Mauroof Zakir proposed to meet with the officials of Ministry of Tourism after obtaining in information in writing about the tourist resorts, city hotels and tourism facilities in the Maldives that have policies which do not allow to maintain beard and headscarves.
