Committee on Independent Institutions 6th Meeting 2025

12 Feb 2025 Number M20/M/MM/2025/6

Summary

The first item on today’s agenda was the issue of approving the individuals nominated by the president to appoint as the president and vice president of the Elections Commission and the vice president of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

When the chairperson opened the floor for members’ comments on this issue, North Fuvahmulah Constituency member Ibrahim Hussain noted that nominated individuals have already been appointed as members of the Elections Commission and they had been evaluated based on their credentials such as educational qualifications, work experience and an interview by the committee, before Parliament approved their appointment to the Elections commission.
