Summary
In this meeting, the committee first discussed a letter received from a whistleblower regarding Chartered Accountants of the Maldives appointing expatriates as members of their committees, without considering the qualified locals. The committee decided to obtain information from the Auditor General’s Office regarding the principle of the appointments to the committees, along with the opinion of Auditor General regarding the appointment of expatriates as members of the committees.
A letter received from a former employee at the Auditor General’s Office requesting to review how the office carried out the process of his retirement from the post was discussed, and decided to inform him that the committee gathered information from Auditor General’s Office regarding the issue and that they have informed the committee that the process of the retirement was carried out as per the guideline 2022/G-16 published on gazette.
Furthermore, Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau proposed to meet with the Reform Commissioner to discuss the process of the reform agenda and to meet with Maldives Pension Administration Office to discuss regarding the effort of the office to improve the pension system in order to reduce the issue of double pension. It was seconded by Hanimaadhoo constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa and passed unanimously by the committee.
The committee decided to review the rest of the issues on the agenda at another meeting.
