Summary
In today's meeting, the committee reviewed issue referred by the President for the approval of the Parliament on the participation of “Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works” in accordance with Article 115(f) (1) and Article 93(h) of the constitution. After the discussion, South Maafannu Constituency Member Abdulla Rifau proposed to participate the Convention since the Maldives is the only nation in the SAARC region that has not yet participated the Convention, which protects the artistic works of young Maldivians. It was seconded by North Mahchangolhi Constituency Member Ibrahim Muhammad. The proposal was passed unanimously.
