Summary
Firstly, in today's meeting, the committee reviewed the issue sent to allocate time length and number of chances given to the Members of the Parliament and the time length and number of chances for defense of the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihusaan in the debate on the no-confidence motion of the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology. After the discussion, Holhudhoo Constituency Member Abdul Sattar Mohamed proposed from the total of 2 hours time, to allocate 1 hour time to the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihusaan and to allocate the remaining 1-hour time for the Parliament members in accordance to the Article 110 (b) of the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis. This was seconded by Alifushi Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Abudul Rahman and was passed with a majority vote.
Next, the committee reviewed the issue regarding the health insurance coverage for Parliament Members, their spouses, and children under 18 years of age, and former Parliament Members. Head of Administration, Mr. Ahmed Faiz Mohamed provided additional information about the matter. Regarding the information acquired, the committee decided to review the issue at a later date.
Lastly, the committee reviewed the issue sent to abolish the position of messenger of the People’s Majlis Secretariat and to change it to another position (Chapter 3 of the Parliamentary Service Staff Regulation). South Feydhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Didi proposed to pass the issue as proposed. This was seconded by Holhudhoo Constituency Member Abdul Sattar Mohamed and was passed unanimously.
