Summary
In today's meeting, the committee met with the officials of Ministry of Social and Family Development, Department of Judicial Administration, Family Court and Family Legal Clinic regarding the issue sent by North Galolhu constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim expressing concern over the current amount of child's expenses and childcare expenses in the regulation framed under the Act no: 4/2000 (Family Act). According to the ministry, amendments to family regulations have been included in this year's agenda. The family court noted that it was necessary to amend the regulation in such a way that it could be implemented, adding that the problem of child expenses is high due to the high divorce rate in the country and more funds were needed to conduct awareness programs to address the issue.
Following this, North Galolhu constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim proposed to meet with the authorities mentioned above after two months to clarify the progress of the family regulation revision. This proposal was passed unanimously.
