Summary

In this meeting, the Financial Statement of Auditor General’s Office for the year 2024 was shared with the members.

 

The members discussed the information received from the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works regarding their plan to spend MVR 28,000,000 to light up the local islands for the Eid festival and decided to obtain a breakdown of that amount from the ministry.


The opinion of Prosecutor General regarding the possibility filing a criminal charge against Executors General Trading (Dubai) for the failure of delivering the Ventilators in the case of wake of Covid-19 was discussed and as proposed by Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim and seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef, the committee unanimously decided to send to Maldives Police Service to investigate the issue.

 

Letters received from Auditor General’s Office and Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives regarding the issue of Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives appointing expatriates as members of their committees was discussed. As proposed by Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa and seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef, the committee unanimously decided to reply to them with the opinion of Auditor General’s Office and Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives regarding the issue.


Furthermore, the committee commenced to appoint a new member to the sub-committees. Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa proposed to appoint North Henveyru Constituency member Ahmed Aifan to Sub-Committee 1 (formed to review audit reports) and to Sub-Committee 2 (Formed to review the Special Audit of Police Housing Project). It was seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef and passed unanimously.

 

Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa and Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef seconded to review the expenses incurred for the uniforms of the staff of Maldives Correctional Service and passed unanimously by the committee.

 

In addition, the chair of the committee proposed and decided to review the block grants of the councils, as no member opposed.
