Summary
The first thing that was discussed in today's meeting was the abolition of the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development, renaming the 'Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure' as 'Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure', renaming the ‘Ministry of Finance’ as 'Ministry of Finance and Planning', abolition of 'Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy' and renaming the 'Ministry of Tourism' as 'Ministry of Tourism and Environment', changing the mandate of Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Ministry of Finance and Planning and Ministry of Tourism and Environment in accordance with the President’s recommendation.
Once the Chairman opened the floor, Dhidhdhoo Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Mohamed proposed to approve the mandate changes to the 3 ministries in accordance with the President’s recommendation. It was seconded by West Henveyru Constituency Member Ali Ibrahim.
The proposal was passed unanimously.
The committee then proceeded to attend to the issue submitted by North Galolhu Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim regarding the difficulties faced by the MBBS students getting internship opportunities from IGMH. After discussing the responses received from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Central Fuvahmulah Constituency Member Ali Fazad proposed to meet with the relevant officials of the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Health and IGMH to further review the issue. This proposal was seconded by Dhidhdhoo Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Mohamed.
The proposal was passed unanimously.
Next, the committee discussed the issue submitted by South Hulhumale Constituency Member Dr. Ahmed Shamheed regarding the registration of vehicles and policies formulated by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation regarding vehicle registration. The Ministry’s response regarding this issue was shared with the committee. However, as it was time for the voting on the Majlis floor, it was decided to put the matter on the agenda for another day and the meeting ended.
