Summary
This meeting was held to review the committee's previous decision to meet with relevant stakeholders regarding the issue submitted by MP Mohamed Ibrahim of North Galolhu Constituency, requesting to examine the current state of the artistic work of Feyli weaving in the Maldives and how to revive and advance this work. As some of the institutions among those the committee had decided to meet with regarding this issue have informed that they are unable to attend the meeting, MP Saudullah Hilmy of North Thinadhoo Constituency proposed to postpone the meeting to a later date, and MP Azim Abdulaziz of Villingili Constituency seconded the proposal. The details of how the members voted on this proposal are provided in the "Votes Taken at the Meeting" section, stated “Vote-1”.
This proposal was unanimously passed by the members who attended the meeting and voted.
In addition, MP Hussein Sameer of Thoddoo constituency noted that Mr. Ibrahim Aboobakuru, who was previously decided by the committee to meet with, is currently the only person in the world who knows the craft of Feyli weaving. He suggested that it is important for the committee to meet with him as soon as possible. Along with this, he proposed to meet as soon as possible with those who are available among the relevant stakeholders previously decided by the committee to meet with. However, this proposal was not seconded by any member of the Committee.
In addition, Thoddoo constituency member Hussain Sameer proposed to meet the relevant stakeholders who are available as soon as possible insisting that it is extremely important to meet with Mr. Ibrahim Aboobakuru as per committee’s previous decision as soon as possible, since he is currently the only person in the world who knows the craft of Feyli weaving. However, this proposal was not seconded by any member of the Committee.
