Summary
In today’s meeting, the committee conducted interviews on the issue of the selection of two members from the public to the Police Board by parliament in accordance with Section 75(d) of the Maldives Police Service Act, 2020. In this regard, the following individuals were interviewed:
· Ahmed Muawiyath Qasim
· Ahmed Mizmadh
· Mohamed Sadiq
· Nisbah Hassan (Referral: Ahmed Mubeen)
After interviewing all the candidates, marks were awarded as per the criteria set by the Committee on General Purposes in awarding marks to the interviewees as per Section 223(c) of the Standing Order of Peoples’ Majlis.
At the end of the interview, of all the candidates who appeared for the interview, MP Ahmed Saleem of Eydhafushi Constituency, the chair of the committee, proposed those who have scored an average of 75% (seventy-five percent) or above are eligible to be selected to the Police Board from the general public under Section 75(d) of the Maldives Police Service Act, 2020, therefore to send their names to the floor. The voting details for this proposal are on “Vote 1” of “Votes” section of this page. This proposal was unanimously passed by the members attended and voted.
