Summary
In today's meeting, the committee reviewed the following issues sent to the committee on the 19th sitting of the 2025 1st session of the Parliament held on April 14, 2025.
- The issue sent by the President on the matter of appointment of the ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany, Aishath Shaan Shakir, G.Penzeemaage 1, as the non-resident ambassador to Kingdom of Sweden.
- The issue sent by the President on the matter of appointment of the ambassador to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Masood Imad, M.Thulhaagin, as the non-resident ambassador to Republic of Seychelles; and
- The issue sent by the President on the matter of appointment of Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, Dr. Salma Rasheed, M.Vilaadhashuge as the non-resident ambassador to Republic of Austria.
South Maafannu Constituency member Abdulla Rifau proposed to set the deadline for reviewing the issue as April 20, 2025, for the completion of reviewing this issue and since the appointees has already been appointed as an ambassadors, there is no requirement to review the records or hold an interviews with the appointees. It was seconded by North Mahchangolhi Constituency member Ibrahim Muhammad. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
