Summary

In today’s meeting, the Committee discussed the Tobacco Control Act (Law No. 15/2010) Amendment Bill. The following amendments were brought to the bill today.


1.  Funadhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed to amend Section 6 of the Act. The proposal was seconded by Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Member Hussain Hameed. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


2.  Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Member Hussain Hameed proposed to amend Section 10 of the Act. The proposal was seconded by Velidhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Abbas. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


3.  Funadhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed to amend Section 10-3 (b) which is being added to the Act. The proposal was seconded by Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Member Hussain Hameed. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


4.  Funadhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed to amend Section 29 (d) (3) of the Act. The proposal was seconded by Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Member Hussain Hameed. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


5.  Funadhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed to amend Section 29 (d) (3) of the Act. The proposal was seconded by Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Member Hussain Hameed. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


6.  Funadhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed to amend Section 42 of the Act. The proposal was seconded by Kudahuvadhoo Constituency Member Hussain Hameed. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


As there was no objection from the committee members, the Chairperson proposed to pass the remaining sections of the bill without any amendments. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
