Summary
In today's meeting, the committee discussed the Annual Report of Maldives Monetary Authority for the year 2024 and decided to schedule this report on another meeting to give members time to review the report.
Quarterly Debt Bulletin for First Quarter of 2025, Quarterly Report of Auditor General's Office for 4th Quarter of 2024 and
Paperwork related to loan agreement of SAR 63,750,000 for Expansion of Velana International Airport project from Saudi Fund for Development was shared with the members.
A letter received from the Committee on Independent Institutions regarding the issue of land leased to The Hawks Private Limited for oil business in HA. Hoarafushi was discussed among the members. The committee decided to obtain information regarding the issue from Ha. Hoarafushi Council, Local Government Authority and Anti-Corruption Commission. Furthermore, as proposed by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef and seconded by North Henveyru Constituency member Ahmed Aifan, the committee decided to meet Anti-Corruption Commission regarding the issue.
Apart from today’s schedule, South Hulhumale’ Constituency member Dr. Ahmed Shamheed proposed to review the issue of F. Magoodhoo Airport Development Project, which was discontinued in between the development process.
Furthermore, Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdooh proposed to request the Auditor General’s Office to include the process of local councils leasing the lands, uninhabited islands and sandbanks in their possession while auditing the local councils. It was seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef and passed unanimously by the members present.
