Summary

In today’s meeting, the Committee discussed and determined the next steps for carrying forward the work on the Animal Welfare Bill.


West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to extend the deadline of the bill until 23 July 2025. North Galolhu Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim seconded this proposal. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


Next, West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to seek comments on the bill from Maldives Customs Services, Male’ City Council, Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works and some local pet shops. This proposal was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel. And the proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
