Summary
In today's meeting, a letter received from Judicial Service Commission seeking the opinion regarding the amendments to the Judges Retirement Regulation was discussed. As proposed by Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdooh and seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef, the committee decided to inform the commission that there is no objection with valuing the retirement allowance as per the salary of the judge at the time of retiring, however to consult National Pay Commission regarding the valuation of the monthly pension referring to the numbers of years in service and Furthermore to consult Ministry of Finance regarding providing security and additional benefits to the chief justice.
Furthermore, the information received from Maldives Monetary Authority regarding the issue submitted by North Galolhu Constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim regarding the delay in starting to use online payment systems by the businesses was discussed. Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa proposed to conduct a meeting Maldives Monetary Authority to discuss the issue. It was seconded by South Hulhumale’ Constituency member Dr. Ahmed Shamheed but failed to pass by the committee vote. As proposed by Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdooh and seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef, the committee decided to respond to the member with the information provided by Maldives Monetary Authority.
