In today’s meeting, the Committee discussed Animal Welfare Bill. It was brought to the Committee’s attention that there were some variations between the soft and hard copy of the bill, which resulted in difficulties in reviewing the bill.

West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to send a letter to the Attorney General’s Office to clarify the reasons for these variations. North Galolhu Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim seconded this proposal. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.

Then, the Committee proceeded with other matters submitted for its review.

While reviewing a matter submitted by an individual regarding a doctor’s conduct at the Hulhumale Hospital, West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to close the matter as the complainant has not responded to the letter sent on 16^th February 2025, seeking an update on the matter. This proposal was seconded by Komandoo Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.

Next, West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to send a letter to the Commissioner of Sports to clarify the issue regarding Revival Sports Club. It was seconded by Kaashidhoo Constituency Member Munthazim Ibrahim. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present. Regarding the same issue, Kaashidhoo Constituency Member Munthazim Ibrahim proposed, and West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim seconded to send a letter to the complainant advising him to proceed with the corruption component of the complaint by filing a complaint as the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.

Then, the committee discussed the letters sent by private individuals requesting a meeting with the committee to share their concerns about banning vape in the Maldives. As the bill is already passed and vape is banned in the Maldives, North Galolhu Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim proposed to respond to those letters accordingly. West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim seconded this proposal. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.

Next, the committee discussed a letter from an individual concerning the adverse consequences of a surgery performed at Hulhumale Hospital. West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to meet the complainant. This proposal was seconded by Nilandhoo Constituency Member Fathimath Saudha. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.

Lastly, West Maafannu Constituency Member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed to meet State Trading Organization Plc, Aasandha Company Limited and National Social Protection Agency regarding an issue referred by an individual. He also proposed to meet with Male City Group of Hospitals, Aasandha Company Limited and National Social Protection Agency to discuss issues related to healthcare system in the Maldives. This proposal was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
