Summary
Today's meeting was held to meet minister of economic development and trade to discuss on the China-Maldives free trade agreement. Central Mahchangolhi constituency member Ahmed Xamyr proposed to continue meeting behind closed doors as a confidential meeting since there will be a significant amount of information shared regarding the issue that does not need to be disclosed to the public; and it was seconded by Hoarafushi constituency member Ali Moosa. However, Vaikaradhoo constituency member Hussain Ziyad opposed to that proposal and proposed not to hold meeting behind closed doors as a confidential meeting if there is no information in that agreement that needs to be kept confidential; and it was seconded by Kendhoo constituency member Mauroof Zakir.
The members present at the time of voting unanimously passed the proposal by Central Mahchangolhi constituency member Ahmed Xamyr to continue meeting behind closed doors as a confidential meeting. Therefore, the proposal by Vaikaradhoo constituency member Hussain Ziyad was nullified.
