Summary
In today’s meeting, the Committee first reviewed the Resolution submitted to seek the views of Members of the 20th Parliament on the amendments to the Decentralization Act and the challenges encountered in its implementation. Following deliberations, Vilifushi Constituency Member Hassan Waheed proposed setting 15th August 2025 as the deadline to complete the review of the Resolution. He also proposed to open the Resolution for public comments and to seek comments from relevant stakeholders, allowing a 14-day period for submissions. This was seconded by Kolamaafushi Constituency Member Ibrahim Didi.
The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
The Committee then reviewed the Issue raised by H.Dh Atoll Council on the potential impact on the upcoming Local Council Election if the relocation of Hdh. Hirimaradhoo residents to Hdh. Hanimaadhoo is delayed. Following the discussion, Nilandhoo Constituency Member Fathimath Sauda proposed that the Committee collect relevant information from the President’s Office and Ministry of Finance and Planning. This proposal was seconded by Vilifushi Constituency Member Hassan Waheed.
The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
