Public Accounts Committee's 27th meeting for the year 2025

Summary

In today's meeting, the committee discussed the letters received from Fenaka Corporation Limited regarding the delays in the Audit of the Corporation for the years 2022 and 2023 and decided to file the issue as the Corporation is working on the completion of the mentioned audits.

 

A mail from a whistleblower regarding the corruption of Prisons Corporative Society was discussed and decided to meet with the executive committee of the Society to discuss the issue.

 

Letters received from Mission 2 Maldives Private Limited and Mission 4 Maldives Private Limited stating that there are conflicts in Foreign Currency Act (32/2024), Maldives Inland Revenue Authority’s Circular no. 220-TD/CIR/2020/05 and Maldives Monetary Authority’s Regulation 2024/R-12 was discussed. The committee decided to obtain information from Maldives Inland Revenue Authority and Maldives Monetary Authority regarding the issue.

 

Furthermore, as no member opposed, the committee decided to obtain information related to the below mentioned proposals of the members.

1.  Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef proposed and North Henveyru Constituency member Ahmed Aifan seconded to obtain information regarding the rents due for the housing project for employees of The State Electric Company Limited.

2.  Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa proposed to obtain information from State Electric Company Limited regarding the import of chargers that do not work on the battery cycles introduced by them.

3.  Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim proposed to discuss the delays of K Park Residence housing project during the meeting scheduled with Housing Development Corporation.

Gemanafushi Constituency member Asadhulla Shihab proposed and Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Gafoor Moosa proposed to review the financial losses incurred to Housing Development Corporation in the SeaLife housing project, and the company's process for distributing flats from the Vinares housing project to individuals who have made payments for Sealife housing project.
