Summary
In today’s meeting, the Committee discussed extending the deadline for the Animal Welfare Bill and setting a deadline for the Bill on Amendment to the Thalassemia Control Act (No. 4/2012). When the floor was opened to propose a deadline, Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir proposed 10 August 2025 as the deadline for both the bills. It was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
Next, discussions were held regarding seeking public opinion on the Bill on Amendment to the Thalassemia Control Act (No. 4/2012). Accordingly, Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir proposed to open a one-week period starting today for public comments. It was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel. The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
Lastly, as no members objected, the Chairperson decided to seek the opinion of the Ministry of Health and the Maldivian Blood Services on the Bill on Amendment to the Thalassemia Control Act (No. 4/2012).
