Summary

In today’s meeting, the Committee reviewed the Bill proposing amendments to Law No. 7/2010 (Decentralization Act). After deliberation, the Committee resolved to amend Section 70(d) of the current Law No. 7/2010 (Decentralization Act), as this amendment was proposed because the section currently refers to a provision in the repealed Law No. 10/96 (The Companies Act of Maldives). This amendment was incorporated as Section 1 of the Bill. Additionally, the Committee decided to amend Section 79(c) of the Bill to provide greater clarity on the reference made in that section. Furthermore, Section 100(b) of Law No. 7/2010 (Decentralization Act) was amended and incorporated as Section 5 of the Bill. Lastly, the Bill, along with the proposed amendments, was subsequently passed by a majority vote of the Committee
