Summary
In today's meeting, the Resolution calling for the investigation and expedited action against the corrupt practices identified in the special audit report of Fenaka Corporation Limited (Procurement and Financial Management) by Auditor General's Office was discussed. As proposed by Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdooh and seconded by Guraidhoo Constituency member Hanan Mohamed Rasheed, the committee decided to pass the resolution with the recommendations proposed by the committee.
Special Audit Reports of Fenaka Corporation Limited (Addu City Branches and Ongoing Projects 2021- 2023 Special Audit, Recruitment, Promotion and Payroll Special Audit and Procurement and Financial Management Special Audit) were discussed. As proposed by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef and seconded by Central Hithadhoo Constituency member Ahmed Azaan Marzooq, the committee decided to form a sub-committee of 5 members to review the reports. Moreover, as proposed by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef and seconded by North Fuvahmulah Constituency member Hamad Abdulla, the committee unanimously agreed the below mentioned as the sub-committee members.
- South Hulhumale' Constituency member Dr. Ahmed Shamheed;
- Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef;
- Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdooh;
- Dhiggaru Constituency member Ahmed Nazim; and
- Central Hithadhoo Constituency member Ahmed Azaan Marzooq.
The opinion of Auditor General and Attorney General for the Amendment to Act No: 4/2007 (Audit Act), Act No: 3/2013 (Act on Privatization, Corporatization, and the Monitoring and Evaluation of State Enterprises) and the amendment to the Constitution was shared with the members.
Furthermore, below mentioned documents received to the committee were shared with the members.
- Quarterly Debt Bulletin – 4th Quarter 2024, received from Ministry of Finance and Planning.
- Budget Cashflow Plan for 2025, received from Ministry of Finance and Planning.
- The response from Maldives Customs Service to the recommendation provided by the committee in the “Committee Report reviewing the Audit reports of the Maldives Customs Service for the years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019”.
- The response from Fuel Supplies Maldives to the recommendation provided by the committee in the “Committee Report reviewing the Special Audit Report on the Transactions related to the diesel purchase for the operations of Maldives Ports Limited”.
Furthermore, Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef proposed and Central Hithadhoo Constituency member Ahmed Azaan Marzooq seconded to meet with Fuel Supplies Maldives to discuss the implementation of the recommendation provided by the committee in the “Committee Report reviewing the Special Audit Report on the Transactions related to the diesel purchase for the operations of Maldives Ports Limited”. The proposal was passed unanimously.
