Summary
In today’s meeting, Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir proposed to set the deadline for Animal Welfare Bill, Zakath Bill and bill on amendment to the Thalassemia Control Act (no. 4/2012) as 25th November 2025. This proposal was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel.

Thirdly, Committee discussed regarding bill on amendment to the Thalassemia Control Act (no. 4/2012). Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel proposed to meet the officials from Maldivian Thalassemia Society and Maldivian Blood Services. This proposal was seconded by Kaashidho Constituency Member Munthazim Ibrahim.
The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
Then, Committee discussed the resolution submitted by North Galolhu Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim to ascertain the views of Members of Parliament on the lack of access to Aasandha healthcare services to foreigners who are married to Maldivians. Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel proposed to open the resolution for public comments until 05th February 2026. This proposal was seconded by Komandoo Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim.
The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
Next, Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel proposed to set the due date of the Resolution as 10th February 2026. This proposal was seconded by Kaashidhoo Constituency Member Munthazim Ibrahim.
The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.
Lastly, the Committee discussed a letter from the Ministry of Health regarding the unavailability of methylphenidate for the treatment of ADHD patients. The Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir proposed to refer the matter to Judiciary Committee, as it is expected to be addressed through the ongoing amendments to the Drugs Act currently under consideration by the Judiciary Committee. This proposal was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel.
