Budget Committee
09 Nov 2025 Number M20/M/BGT/2025/02
The Committee sat with officials from Auditor General’s Office to discuss the various components proposed in the 2026 budget. The Auditor General emphasized the importance of increasing revenue, recovering outstanding receivables of the government. In addition, Auditor General highlighted implementing projects in priority order to reduce PSIP expenditure, and implementation of pension reforms. Moreover, the Auditor General recommended that the challenges due to the increase in debt will not be eased without reducing expenditure and that the Ministry of Finance and Planning should present to Parliament the measures to reduce expenditure while the budget is passed.
