Summary

In today's meeting, committee decided the following regarding Evidence Act Amendment Bill (Act No. 11/2022).

1.     Committee set the deadline of the Evidence Act Amendment Bill as 26th November 2026

2.     Committee decided to give until 18th November 2025 for public comment s on the bill.

3.     To send for comments to the relevant authorities. The relevant authorities are as below;

-    Prosecutor Generals Office

-    Maldives Police Service

-    Department of Judicial Administration

-    Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission

-    Maldives Journalist Association


This proposal was passed unanimously.

Then, Committee reviewed the drug act amendment bill. (Act No.17/2011) with the comments proposed by Attorney general’s Office.

From these Amendment, committee discussed and decided to amend section 3-5 (7) of the AG Office Amendment.

This was proposed by Kendhoo Constituency MP Mauroof Zakir and seconded by Faresmathoda MP Ashraf Rasheed.

This proposal was passed unanimously.
