Summary
In today's meeting, the committee discussed the report passed by sub-committee 2 after reviewing the Special Audit Report of POLCO housing project and the report passed by sub-committee 2 after reviewing other corruption issues related to Maldives Police Service. Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamadooh proposed to conduct the discussions confidentially as per Article 167 of the Standing Order, as the discussion pertains to national security, as specified in Article 46(a) of the Standing Order. The proposal was seconded by Guraidhoo Constituency member Hanan Mohamed Rasheed and passed with the majority of the members present.
Hence, the discussions of the reports passed by sub-committee were held confidentially.
Furthermore, as proposed by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef, the committee decided to review the issue of Maldives Customs Service officers working in the airport not being rotated, some air cargo being cleared without scanning, and the sale of imported goods elsewhere which were released with duty waivers for sale at airport duty-free shops.
