Summary
In this meeting, the committee reviewed the Bill on amendment to the Maldives Tourism Act (no. 2/99). North Feydhoo Constituency Member Ismail Nizar proposed amendments to the bill and it was seconded by Central Mahchangolhi Constituency Member Ahmed Xamyr. After that North Feydhoo Constituency Member Ismail Nizar proposed to pass the bill along with the amendments passed by the committee; and it was seconded by Velidhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Abbas.
In addition, the Committee reviewed the “Resolution calling for the development of a common standard or code for grooming, and a dress code for employees in the Tourism industry, removing barriers to wearing headscarves and decent beards, due to the existing grooming and dress codes for employees working in tourist resorts and hotels”, sponsored by Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir. Faresmathoda Constituency Member Ashraf Rasheed proposed to amend the resolution and pass the resolution along with amendments proposed and it was seconded by North Feydhoo Constituency Member Ismail Nizar.
