Summary

In today’s meeting, the committee reviewed Bill on amendment to the Maldives Pension Act (No.8/2009). Once the chairman opened for members opinion, Kelaa constituency member Abdulla Shareef proposed to meet with relevant stakeholders and discuss the matter. This proposal was seconded by Fuvahmulah constituency member Ibrahim Hussain.

This proposal was passed unanimously by all the members present.

After that, Fuvahmulah constituency member Ibrahim Hussain proposed and West Henveiru constituency member Ali Ibrahim seconded the following: Setting, 16th February 2026 as the deadline to complete the committee works on the issue sent by the president for the appointment of a member to the elections commission, to form an administrative panel of 3 employees as per the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis to examine the eligibility of the candidates, with the nominees being Uza. Shahzadh Saeed (Legal Officer) and Fathimath Nadha (Senior Committee Officer) and Aishath Rifa (Senior Officer), to open for public comments until 12th February 2026 and to interview the candidates nominated by the president 15th February 2026.

This proposal was approved unanimously by all the members present.

Fuvahmulah constituency member Ibrahim Hussain proposed to change the interview deadline to a date no later than 16th February 2026. It was seconded by West Henveiru constituency member Ali Ibrahim.

This proposal was also approved unanimously by all the members present.
