Summary

In today’s meeting, the committee first reviewed the response from the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) concerning the "Petition regarding negligence in providing legally mandated benefits for children with disabilities." As the agency's response did not sufficiently address the specific information requested, Madaveli Constituency Member Mohamed Shameez proposed resending the inquiry to seek clear and comprehensive answers. This was seconded by Dhidhdhoo Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Mohamed and was passed unanimously by the members present at the meeting.


Next, the committee reviewed the "Petition calling for solutions to the challenges faced by students studying in Spain under the government student loan scheme". Dhidhdhoo Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Mohamed proposed requesting the latest status update from the relevant Ministry before making a final decision. This was seconded by Madaveli Constituency Member Mohamed Shameez and passed unanimously by the members present at the meeting.


After that, the committee reviewed the "Petition regarding the prolonged and unresolved housing issues surrounding the K-Park Residencies project". Dhidhdhoo Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Mohamed proposed requesting details from the Housing Committee regarding their progress on the "Resolution to determine the Parliament's stance on the unresolved issues of the K-Park housing project in Hulhumalé." This was seconded by Central Hithadhoo Constituency Member Ahmed Azaan Marzooq and passed unanimously by the members present at the meeting.

 

Lastly, the committee discussed the "Petition submitted to Parliament sharing the difficulties and concerns of persons with disabilities." Following deliberations, Vaikaradhoo Constituency Member Hussain Ziyad proposed seeking further clarification from relevant authorities regarding the specific measures they have taken to address the concerns raised in the petition. This was seconded by Madaveli Constituency Member Mohamed Shameez and passed unanimously by the members present at the meeting.
