Summary

In today’s meeting, Komandoo Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim proposed to extend the deadline for Bill on Amendment to the Thalassemia Control Act (no. 4/2012) until 31st August 2026. It was seconded by Kaashidhoo Constituency Member Munthazim Ibrahim.

The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


Next, the Committee deliberated on two policy papers submitted by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD). During the discussion, Committee noted the obtaining input from the NGOs that prepared the papers. Accordingly, North Galolhu Constituency Member, Mohamed Ibrahim, proposed that the Committee meet with Advocating Rights of Children (ARC) and the Maldives NCD Alliance.. This proposal was seconded by Dhuvaafaru Constituency Member Mohamed Ali.

The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


Next, the Committee discussed the “Grant Policy” submitted for review by Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts. The Komandoo Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim proposed to amend s.4(a) of the policy. It was seconded by Kaashidhoo Constituency Member Munthazim Ibrahim.

The proposal was passed unanimously by the members present.


Lastly, the Chairperson proposed to pass the Policy along with the amendment made by the Committee and the Committee Secretariat.
